MICRO CREDIT PROJECT

Location:
North-Sumatra, Indonesia

Budget:
$ 41,000 per year

Background:
For the poorest of the poor it is often hard to obtain loans to invest in their businesses. These people are so poor that a bank doesn't want to give them credit, or the conditions are such that people can not meet their responsibilities.  For these people micro-credit is the solution, offering small loans at fair rates to give these people a chance for change.

 PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Although the project is currently up and running, we are looking at possibilities for expansion.

Two different credit unions have been established. One is focused on entrepreneurs in the market and the other on a particularly poor section of the city.

Because of professional guidance this project has been successful to date. The repayment rate is good and the majority of the funds in the project have been loaned out to clients.

There are still great needs in the area, and World Partners desires to expand with additional capital for loans.

  •  PROFIT

As a micro-credit fund, clients pay back loans with interest. This allows a profitable cycle and increasing revolving fund to be established and renewed.
