Background: 

The former state farm (also called Kolchoz) in Bilichy was privatized and now belongs to former employees of the Kolchoz. A majority of these elderly people asked World Partner in 2004 to rent and work the land in order to receive extra money in addition to their small pension.

GOALS

Adama's profit will come from its agricultural production on the 160 hectares of land. It will enable to support Dare2Care and ChildCare and develop the company further.  The company also offers jobs to (ex) drug and alcohol addicts that are part of a rehabilitation project.

 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The company's assets are the rented land, machines and nine buildings. The machines are mostly second hand and imported from Holland. The buildings are bought from the villagers and are mostly in a bad condition. The first priority is the cultivation of the land (at the end of 2008 70 ha were sowed and 70 ha ploughed). Furthermore it is necessary to maintain the machines and renovate the buildings. 

Jouke Spriensma was appointed director in September 2008. The start of the farm was vital. Locally the farm offers a permanent job to six people.         		 2009_016_-_kopie_website
