We were able to finance the village development project with the assistance of, among others, the NCDO, Stichting Rotterdam, the Wijngaard Evangelical Church and private donors. Construction of the nursery school began in June 2009 and progressed slowly. Everything seemed fine until early 2011 when the concrete support beams in the new school building were found to be damaged. In addition, an inspection showed that there was a structural defect in the foundations. Therefore, we decided to demolish part of the school and to rebuild it. This was a major financial setback. The school is now very nearly finished. The playground is now being constructed and a fence put up, after which the playground equipment will be put in place outside. It is expected that the school will soon officially be opened. The result will be a safe school for the children.

Unfortunately, due to the extra cost of the school, we no longer have sufficient funds to build living accommodation for the nursery staff. This was part of the original plan and is necessary to allow for supervision of the school and its grounds.

We have a shortfall of around $ 10,000 for the living accommodation. We would still, however, very much like to build it.
